1915
The Georgia State Chamber of Commerce is established and the first official meeting of the Board of Directors takes place in Macon, GA.
1916
The Chamber calls for the creation of the Department of Transportation to improve Georgia’s roads. The DoT is established two years later.
1920 - 1950
The Georgia Chamber helped form over 100 local chambers of commerce.
1972
The Georgia Chamber staff becomes the first registered lobbyists in the state.
1975
The Georgia Economic Developers Association is created.
1992
The Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education is created.
2006
The Georgia Chamber Foundation is founded and Policy Committees are formed.
2015
The Georgia Chamber of Commerce celebrates its 100-year anniversary at the Capitol.
2017
The Center for Rural Prosperity opens in Tifton, GA.
2019
Georgia Chamber’s SMART Health Plan launches, providing health insurance to over 50,000 people to date.
2023
The Chamber Plus Health Plan launches for companies with 51-99 employees.
